Rene Huard is an antique dealer and collector, published writer, musician, actor and television host of Global Prime’s Antique Hunter.
In 1996
Rene’s entrepreneurial nature saw him establish his own company, Art
Decoy Collectibles. Originally selling his own hand-carved decorative
woodcarvings at craft shows, today, Art Decoy Collectibles buys, sells,
and trades all manner of collectibles and antiques. Although Rene’s
primary expertise lies in Folk Art, Primitive Canadianna Furniture,
Adirondack, Native American & Nautical, Antique Decoys and Vintage
Fishing Tackle remain his true passion.
His
affiliations include membership in the National Fishing Lure Collectors
Club (N.F.L.C.C.) and the Canadian Decoy & Outdoor Collectibles
Association (CDOCA).
Art Decoy
Collectibles sees Rene traveling the North American ‘antique and
collectibles circuit’ in search of antique treasures. As well as
maintaining a busy schedule of filming he buys and sells at antique
shows, attends vintage fishing tackle swap meets, and is featured
‘Appraiser of Vintage Fishing Tackle and Duck Decoys’ at various events.
Rene is also
an experienced antique appraiser and a published writer. His articles
include The Legendary Lures for Outdoor Canada Magazine Millennium
Special 100 Years of Canada Outdoors.
When he
isn’t indulging his passion for antiques and collectibles, Rene can be
found recording and performing his own music. An accomplished guitar,
piano and harmonica player, Rene is featured on harmonica playing the
theme song for Antique Hunter. He has toured extensively in Canada and
the U.S. as the frontman for blues and R&B band ‘The Meteors’ and
as a sideman for Belleville’s own ‘Fade Kings’ and ‘Suzanne Hyatt’s
Odyssey Blues Band’.
With over 10 years of
experience as a veteran collector/antique dealer and 15 years on the
musical stage and now successful host of a television series, Rene
maintains that the long and winding road leads to some pretty
interesting places!
